Paintings from the early 2000s
The years of Terror and not-so-devestating epidemics, namely the Bird Flu and Swine fever. These are the subjects and feelings being represented in this series of artworks. Terror is slowly creeping into our daily life. A few caricatures send some in rage, confuses others, and send another group into despair.
Is Art allowed to be political? The question in itself is wrong. I think, Art should not pull the yarn over someone eyes. Afterall, that is an impossible task. It’s only natural that every artists creates around the topics they see and experience in their everyday live. It is no accident that Ei Wei Wei creates around bycicles. I realize surprisingly, how my host country Germany in these times all day, every day confronts me with the whole world, not to least with the help of the uprising Internet. This series is the result of that.
During this time I had two exhibitions in the Tiek Gallerie, Berlin.
